MY APPROACH

Hi, my name is Domenic, and I love what I do!

When I started working in animal services professionally in 2013, I began my journey with a heart full of passion and a working knowledge of animal behavior and care. I had the privilege of working at one of the most renowned animal shelters in the country, and took full advantage of opportunities to cross-train with other departments and learn from top-notch medical professionals and animals behaviorists.

A couple of years and nearly two-thousand adoptions later, I moved back to Los Angeles where I grew up. At the shelter, I developed a reputation for facilitating positive change for the animals there, and was often called on to educate new pet parents in adoption cases with behaviorally- and medically-challenging animals. Once back in LA, I decided to put that expertise to work and pursue my childhood dream of owning my own business centered in caring for the needs of others. Maestro Pet Care, LLC was born.

My first client was a rescue pit bull named Jax, who, even in a safe and loving home, still had serious issues with anxiety and reactivity around other animals. I realized that there are many people out there like Jax's owner, who have special pets with special medical and behavioral needs. Standard dog walking and pet sitting may not always be adequate for these pets, and that is where my experience in animal services helps me to go above and beyond.

Think of me as your personal pet concierge; my services are centered around delivering effective care that is lovingly catered to fit the needs of you and your pet(s). Whether that's working on leash-walking etiquette during our walks or making sure medications get properly administered during mealtimes, I'm here to meet you and your pet's needs.

Behaviorally, I am ready to work with any and all issues! My canine behavioral management and rehabilitation approach is rooted in positive reinforcement-based training methodology, and I am more than happy to work with you in developing and reinforcing behavioral training for your pets.

Behavioral rehabilitation thrives when the target behaviors are worked with on a consistent basis - with an effective approach. When my caretaking services are utilized on a daily basis - week-to-week - your pets are able to experience the benefits of both general caretaking, as well as a training session, all in one service.

Medically, I am experienced in topical, eye, ear, oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medication administration. I have worked with a very wide range of illnesses and maladies, and am happy to discuss any special needs your pet may have.

I haven't forgotten the felines!

During my time as an adoption counselor in the shelter, I found myself often approached by new guests who were told by prior adopters about my aptitude for working with kitties, and my successes with finding those adopters an ideal cat companion for their homes. Since then, I have translated those skills to my personal pet care work. I also have two adopted, amputee kitties of my own!

I'm known for quickly becoming a cat's best friend, and I have a great track record for interacting with even the shyest of felines. I welcome the opportunity to care for and/or behaviorally work with your beloved kitty!
